About The Vulcan Regional Food Bank Society
Vulcan Regional Food Bank Society is a charitable organization dedicated to providing food security. It serves the residents of Vulcan, Vulcan County, Brant, Arrowwood, Milo, Lomond, Champion and Carmangay. It is run by a Board of directors, staff and volunteers. The Food Bank relies entirely on donations and grants.
The Food hampers are available year round to low income residents, the number of hampers available depends on supply. Christmas Hampers are available, as well as Adopt-a-Family / Angel Tree Gifts that go out with hampers.
Vulcan Regional Food Bank Society works closely with local businesses and partner organizations to provide sustainable food accessibility and integrated support to our clients. Food Banks Canada and Food Banks Alberta help support local food banks as well.
The Alberta Rural Development Network (ARDN) Reaching Home Project funding is available through the Food Bank to help prevent homelessness. Clients needing emergency shelter, connection to safe permanent housing, medical transportation or short term financial support can apply with a bank statement, invoices and an interview.

24 hour hamper requests are dependent on availability.

Donor Receipting
Issuance of Charitable Receipts – Tax receipts will be issued in accordance with the guidelines of the Canada Revenue Agency. VRFBS will request that the Town of Vulcan issue an official receipt for donations that qualify as charitable gifts, as per our current agreement with the Town of Vulcan. Receipts for donations of $20.00 or higher will be issued only when requested by the donor. If, following internal consultations, uncertainty remains as to whether a donation qualifies as a charitable gift, a ruling may be sought from legal counsel, independent counsel, and/or the CRA.
